A Regency bamboo armchair or elbow chair C.1815, in the Brighton Pavilion taste, and after the designs of William Chambers with pierced stylised foliate panels with geometric designs. Faded original gilding on joints and bone finials on the tips of the back rest.
An example of a similar chair is owned by The Metropolitan Museum.
The chair has some expected losses to the foliate panels, as photographed and although It also remains useable and the cane-work seat is perfect so possibly replaced at some stage. The chair would be best left as an ornamental chair and work of art.
